It's sunny and nice out almost all day but with 15 min left in my last class the sky opens up.  But it was fairly warm out and today was a recovery run day so it made for quite the nice rain run.  At first it seemed like it'd just be a drizzle the whole time but i got the full on down pour after about a mile and a half and it stayed with my until the last mile.  Rain runs are quite nice though.  My plantar and shin were hurting pretty good early but loosened up after a mile.  I may have failed to have mention that but i've had minor shin splits for a few weeks.  The plantar has been off and on achey for about a week...since the 400m workout 9 days ago.

I have had major plantar problems as well. I struggled through it last summer to keep training for a marathon, but then I was introduced to a gadget called a Strassburg Sock. I got it at a local running specialty store. Anyway you wear this thing overnight and the way it pulls your toes up allows for quicker recovery from PF. I found it to be very helpful and used it consitently for a few weeks to help heal my foot afters many months of pain.

I've heard of the Strassburg Sock. I hav eheard they work wonders. Ryan, this is really cool and I will be checking in to see what you're doing and also get workout ideas. :)

I noticed you call a run at 6:10 pace a "recovery run". Based on what you say in the profile, I would imagine you run 5 miles all out in about 24-25 minutes, correct? If that is the case, 6:10 pace is not a true recovery, it is mild work. I can see how done overtime in combination with speedwork something like this could lead to some form of overtraining - either a plain injury or some insidious form of fatigue. Your true recovery runs should probably be no faster than 6:40.
