Did the usual pre race 4 with the Snowbird invite 5k coming up tomorrow.  I was quite disappointed that the plantar is still hurting as much as it is.  I'm thinking I'll fight through the race tomorrow then day a few days off to get it better.  Hopefully with 3 or so days off it'll feel better and I'll just turn Gate River run into a glorified tempo run.  Technically my finishing time the past two years has been at or slower than tempo pace mostly because I've gone out with the leaders then rigged.  Last year my 5k splits went 15 min, 16 min, 17 min.  But anyway, no need to focus on that just yet when I'll be on the track tomorrow night.  Aaron Lanzel, a 3:40 1500m runner, is going to rabbit through 2 miles in 67 pace.  Hopefully that will feel comfortable and I can finish off a good race.  Tyrone Bell will be racing too so maybe there will be someone around for the last mile.  We'll see how the plantar holds up.

Good luck in the race. We have a couple of plantar sufferers on the blog - Paul and Mike. They might have some ideas to share.

My thinking is that you should try doing your easy runs at 6:40 pace instead of 6:00-6:10 for a while. Your heart and muscles might be ready for 6:00 all the time, but perhaps your feet are not yet.

Then do tempos a couple of times a week at 5:20 or even 5:00.
